BJP Leaders Urge Cancellation of Event Allegedly Supporting Umar Khalid in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka have submitted a representation seeking the cancellation of a proposed event in Bengaluru that they allege is being organised in support of Umar Khalid.
In their memorandum, BJP leaders expressed concern over a discussion programme reportedly planned in the city, stating that the individual in question is facing serious charges under anti-terror laws. They argued that allowing such an event could send a wrong message and potentially encourage unlawful activities.
The BJP leaders also claimed that wall writings supporting Umar Khalid have appeared in parts of the city, raising concerns about the spread of such campaigns. They described this as a matter of public concern and urged authorities to take preventive action.

Citing the need to maintain peace and public order, the party has requested the authorities to withdraw permission for the event. They further stated that any disruption to law and order arising from the programme would not be their responsibility.
The representation was submitted by Bengaluru MP P.C. Mohan, BJP State Spokesperson S. Prakash, Bengaluru North District President S. Harish, and Bengaluru Central District President Saptagiri Gowda, Former Mayor M Gautham Kumar along with other party leaders.
The BJP has called on the administration to consider their request in the interest of maintaining harmony and stability in the city.
