Bengaluru South Corporation to Deploy Towing Vehicles to Curb Illegal Parking
Bengaluru: In a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and clearing illegally parked and abandoned vehicles, the Bengaluru South City Corporation is set to deploy towing vehicles across its jurisdiction.
An inspection of the towing vehicles was conducted today at the corporation premises, with Commissioner K. N. Ramesh personally overseeing the process and reviewing their operational readiness.
Officials stated that the inspection was carried out to ensure that contractors awarded the tender meet all prescribed standards and eligibility criteria before the vehicles are put into service.
Speaking after the inspection, the Commissioner said that a total of six towing vehicles have been hired for operations within the Bengaluru South City Corporation limits. He added that after verifying vehicle performance and contractor compliance, the towing units will be deployed on roads next week under the supervision of the traffic police.
Ramesh noted that the initiative will help address issues caused by indiscriminate parking, remove road obstructions, and improve the overall flow of traffic in the city. He also appealed to citizens to avoid parking vehicles in a haphazard manner.
Chief Engineer K. V. Ravi, officials from the Traffic Engineering Mobility Cell, including the Executive Engineer, and other senior officers were present during the inspection.
