Bengaluru, October 5: Monday’s rain slowed traffic on airport-bound approaches at Hebbal and CBI Junction, along with several east Bengaluru and central-city roads, as police issued a series of waterlogging alerts ahead of the evening commute.
Peenya Industrial Area recorded the highest rainfall figure in the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s ward report issued at 5:10 pm: 51.5 mm. HMT and Vidyaranyapura followed at 44 mm each, while Rajagopal Nagar and Hegganahalli registered 41 mm each.

Heading to the airport? Two approaches flagged
Bengaluru Traffic Police’s 4:28 pm update flagged slow traffic at the Hebbal flyover down-ramp toward the airport. Its 5:10 pm update also listed CBI Junction on the flyover toward the airport, extending the list of trouble spots for travellers on that corridor.
The alerts described slow-moving traffic. They did not announce closure of these roads or prescribe a diversion. Travellers should allow extra time and check the latest traffic updates before starting their journey.

- 17th Main Road toward Doopanahalli.
- Old Udaya TV toward Jayamahal.

- CL Cross toward Cantonment East Road.
- CBI Junction on the flyover toward the airport.
- Koramangala Inner Ring Road toward Indiranagar.
- Kuvempu Circle toward Hebbal Circle.
- B. Narayanapura toward the city.
- HBR Layout Main Road toward Nagawara.

The first alerts came at 3:41 pm, when police reported waterlogging near Geddalahalli railway bridge toward Hennur; 3:57 pm, at K.R. Puram GRT Junction toward the city; and 4 pm, near Kasturi Nagar down-ramp toward Tin Factory.
The 4:28 pm consolidated alert listed six affected approaches:
- Selam Bridge toward Karthik Nagar.
- Ashirvadam Junction toward Opera Junction.
- Hebbal flyover down-ramp toward the airport.
- Rainbow Service Road toward Mahadevapura.
- Kasturi Nagar down-ramp toward Hebbal.
- Windsor Manor Bridge toward High Grounds Junction.

Peenya leads rainfall readings; sharp differences across wards
The GBA Integrated Command and Control Centre’s report lists 89 ward/location readings, using ward names from the 198-ward framework. After Peenya, HMT, Vidyaranyapura, Rajagopal Nagar and Hegganahalli, Subramanya Nagar, Nagapura and Mahalakshmipuram each recorded 39 mm.

Further down the report, Horamavu and Hudi (Bilishivale) were at 23.5 mm each; Banasavadi and Jakkuru at 21 mm; Rammurthynagar at 20.5 mm; Hebbala at 19 mm; and Nagavara at 11.5 mm. HAL Airport was listed at 1 mm and Kadugodi at 0.5 mm, showing how uneven the recorded rainfall was across locations.
