BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch has arrested seven people in two separate cases involving the alleged illegal sale of a red sand boa and coral sea fans, Bengaluru City Police said on Tuesday.
In an October 6 post on X, police said the CCB Special Investigation Team arrested one accused for allegedly attempting to sell a red sand boa for ₹1 crore by exploiting superstition. Officers seized one live snake and a mobile phone.
970 coral sea fans seized in separate case
In the second case, police said six accused were arrested for allegedly collecting and attempting to sell coral sea fans illegally. The operation resulted in the seizure of 970 soft coral sea fans and three mobile phones.
The police statement described the operations as part of CCB efforts to curb the illegal trade in rare wildlife and marine species. The ₹1-crore figure relates to the alleged attempted sale of the snake; it is not a confirmed transaction value.
