Karnataka reports 2 more deaths, 13 new cases
BENGALURU:
With the death of a 65-year-old male from Kalaburagi on Wednesday, Karnataka’s Covid-19 death roll has risen to 5. The deceased was among 6 fresh positive cases which have taken the state’s infected tally to 181.
The deceased, listed as patient 177 in the health department’s media bulletin, was first treated in a private hospital and later shifted to the ESI Hospital in Kalaburagi city. He died on Tuesday and his final rites were conducted as per the Covid-19 protocol. This is the second death reported from Kalaburagi district.
Health Minister B Sriramulu’s tweet corroborated the number of new infected cases as 6.
As per the bulletin, patient 177 male did not have any travel history or contact with infected cases in the district. “He was suffering from severe acute respiratory illness (SARI),” the bulletin said.
The bulletin says Bengaluru, Chikaballapur, Uttar Kannada, Kalaburagi and Mandya districts have each reported one fresh positive case.
Interestingly, patient 176, a 26-year-old female who is suffering from SARI, does not have any foreign travel history. Her husband had recently returned from Dubai but does not have any Covid-19 symptoms.
Details of the 6 fresh cases:
Patient 176: 26, female from Uttara Kannada, has severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) and contact with Dubai returnee (wife).
Patient 177: 65, male from Kalaburagi, deceased, suffered from SARI.
Patient 178: 72, female from Kalaburagi, contact of P175 (mother).
Patient 179: 35, male from Mandya, contact of P134 and P138 (Tablighi Jamaat returnees).
Patient 180: 23, male from Chikkaballapur, travel history of Delhi.
Patient 181: 27, female from Bengaluru, travel history of Delhi.
