BENGALURU:

Retail toor dal prices on Tuesday shot up to Rs 200 per kg. The prices of pulses have increased unabated in the last few months due to deficient monsoon and unseasonal rains.

As per the officials, the production has fallen drastically due to deficient monsoon and the supply from other states has also reduced.

Traders say that given the present trend, there is no sign of the prices coming down.

Cultivation has not been taken up this time in many places due to the lack of the expected monsoon. If it rains in the coming days, the market will take at least three months to recover after the harvest. So, till then, there is no other way, but to bear with the price hike, the traders said.

The prices of pulses have increased unabated in the last few months due to a fall in domestic output. Last week, the prices of pulses were above Rs 120 per kg but now it has crossed Rs 150 per kg.
