Bengaluru Central City Corporation Intensifies Removal of Fallen and Dangerous Trees Across City
Bengaluru, May 23: The Bengaluru Central City Corporation has intensified the removal of dangerous trees, fallen branches and rain-hit trees across the city following recent heavy rain and strong winds.
The operation is being carried out under the direct supervision and instructions of Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan, who has directed officials to ensure public safety and prevent accidents caused by weak or fallen trees during the ongoing rain season.
According to officials, since April 29, 2026, nearly 260 trees and 761 branches have fallen within the Central City Corporation limits due to heavy rain and strong winds. Most of the fallen trees and branches have already been cleared, while removal work is still continuing in a few pending locations.
The Commissioner stated that the corporation has deployed necessary machinery, cranes, skilled personnel and emergency teams to speed up the removal of dangerous trees and branches vulnerable to rain and wind damage. Officials have been instructed to act immediately in areas where public movement may be affected due to fallen trees or hanging branches.
During the last three days, major clearance operations were carried out in several important areas including Raj Bhavan Road, M.S. Building surroundings, Indiranagar’s CMH Road, 100 Feet Road, Defence Colony, Sri Rama Temple Road near Ayyappa Temple, Eshwara Layout, HAL Phase-1, Phase-2 and Phase-3 areas, Halasuru, Brigade Road, Domlur, Ramaswamipalya, Pillappa Garden, Goripalya, Ashok Nagar, New Thippasandra, LIC Colony, Jeevan Bheema Nagar, Vivek Nagar, Wilson Garden, Lakkasandra and Basavanagudi Police Station Road.
Officials said similar tree and branch removal operations are also being carried out in several other parts of Bengaluru to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety during the monsoon season.
The civic body has appealed to residents to immediately inform local authorities if they notice dangerously leaning trees or hanging branches in their localities.
