Mysuru: In a tragic incident, six people, including two children, lost their lives after drowning in the Cauvery River near the Arkeshwara Temple in KR Nagar town of Mysuru district.
According to initial reports, a group of eight people who had come to visit a dargah near Krishnarajanagar ventured into the river for a swim. During the incident, six individuals drowned, while two others were rescued and shifted to a hospital in Mysuru for further treatment.
The incident occurred near the Hale Edathore Arkeshwara Swamy temple area, a known spot along the Cauvery River. Authorities rushed to the scene and initiated rescue operations, but six people could not be saved.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the deceased.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the region, and further investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
