Bengaluru, June 1: Bengaluru Traffic Police have registered 699 drunk driving cases and 155 over-speeding cases during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city from May 25 to May 31, 2026.
According to a press note issued by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, the special drive was launched to curb drunken driving and over-speeding, two major contributors to road accidents and fatalities in the city.
The enforcement campaign was carried out across Bengaluru with the participation of traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations.
As part of the special drive against drunk driving, traffic police checked a total of 41,033 vehicles across the city. During the inspections, 699 cases were registered against drivers and riders found operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
In a parallel enforcement drive against over-speeding, Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 155 cases against motorists found violating speed limits.
Authorities also collected fines amounting to ₹1.56 lakh from offenders booked for over-speeding during the campaign.
Traffic officials said the objective of the drive was to enhance road safety, deter dangerous driving behaviour and reduce the risk of accidents caused by intoxicated driving and excessive speed.
Bengaluru Traffic Police stated that such special enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safer roads and stricter compliance with traffic regulations across the city.
Officials urged motorists to follow traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and adhere to prescribed speed limits to protect their own safety as well as that of other road users.
