Bengaluru: In a significant political development, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly removed his close aide Naseer Ahmed from the post of Political Secretary, following allegations of anti-party activities during the Davanagere by-election.
Sources indicate that the action comes close on the heels of earlier developments involving another party functionary, suggesting internal churn within the Congress ranks. The move is being linked to alleged indiscipline and lack of coordination during the crucial bypoll campaign.
The Davanagere by-election witnessed intense political rivalry between the Congress and the BJP, with senior leaders from both sides actively campaigning. Amid this high-stakes contest, allegations of internal dissent and anti-party conduct have surfaced, leading to disciplinary measures.
Reacting to the development, Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan downplayed the controversy, stating that leaders were assigned responsibilities across constituencies and efforts were made to ensure party unity. He maintained that there is no major division within the party and expressed confidence that Congress will emerge victorious in both seats.
Zameer Ahmed also emphasised that aspiring to become a minister is natural in politics and that leaders will continue to make their individual efforts. He reiterated that the party remains united despite speculation of internal differences.
The development has added a new dimension to the ongoing political dynamics in Karnataka, especially in the backdrop of by-election results and internal power equations within the ruling Congress.
