Bengaluru, May 31: The Bengaluru East City Corporation has seized six vehicles and registered an FIR against those allegedly involved in illegally transporting and dumping solid waste in vacant land under the Kadugodi Police Station limits in Mahadevapura Zone.

Commissioner D.S. Ramesh said the action followed complaints from residents regarding unauthorized dumping of bulk waste near Siddhartha Layout, adjoining Survey Nos. 130, 131 and 142 along the South Pinakini River.

According to officials, Eco Sphere Waste Solutions had been authorised to collect and dispose of bulk waste generated by commercial establishments and residential complexes in various parts of East Bengaluru. However, a group led by an individual identified as Naushad allegedly used fake identity cards in the company’s name to collect waste illegally and dump it in unauthorized locations.

Based on public complaints, civic officials maintained continuous surveillance in the area and launched a special enforcement drive. During an operation conducted on May 29, authorities intercepted five waste-laden vehicles that had arrived at the site for illegal dumping. The drivers reportedly fled the spot. A sixth vehicle was seized during a follow-up operation on May 30.

The seized vehicles bear registration numbers KA-07-A-398, KA-52-B-8275, KA-53-A-4649, AP-39-VB-6604, KA-18-C-6915 and KA-40-A-4837.

An FIR has been registered at Kadugodi Police Station based on a complaint filed by the Assistant General Manager of the Solid Waste Management Department. The case seeks legal action against vehicle owners, drivers, persons involved in the dumping activity and landowners who allegedly permitted the waste to be dumped on their property.

Commissioner Ramesh said the corporation would maintain zero tolerance towards illegal waste disposal activities that threaten public health, environmental safety and urban cleanliness. He warned that strict penal and criminal action would continue against those using vacant plots as dumping grounds or transporting waste to unauthorized locations.

Appealing for public cooperation, he urged citizens to immediately report vehicles or individuals involved in illegal waste dumping to the city corporation or the nearest police station.

Officials from the Solid Waste Management Department, including assistant general managers, marshal supervisors, ward marshals, health inspectors and other staff, participated in the enforcement operation.
