From Defaulters to Sealed Premises: Bengaluru East City Corporation Sends Strong Warning

Bengaluru: In a strong move to boost property tax collection, the Bengaluru East City Corporation has begun sealing commercial and non-residential buildings that have failed to pay property tax for several years in the Mahadevapura Zone.

Guided by the directions of City Corporation Commissioner D. S. Ramesh, enforcement teams sealed banks, hotels, and commercial complexes that continued operations despite long-pending tax arrears.

Sealing Drive to Recover Tax Dues

Officials said that properties with one year or more of unpaid property tax had been served statutory notices and granted sufficient time to comply. However, due to continued non-payment, sealing action was initiated as per rules.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Joint Commissioner Dr. Dakshayini K., with ward-wise teams identifying properties with the highest arrears and enforcing sealing to ensure recovery.
