Bengaluru: In a successful anti-corruption trap operation, two accused — including a YouTube channel owner — have been arrested for accepting a bribe of ₹1.2 lakh in connection with a khatha transfer case in Nelamangala.
The case has been registered as Crime No. 02/2026 under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, based on a complaint filed by Faizulla Sab, a resident of Heggenahalli.
According to officials, the accused have been identified as Geethamani, Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Kallalghatta, Nelamangala, and Gangadhar, a private individual who runs a YouTube news channel in Nelamangala town.
The complainant had approached authorities alleging that a demand of ₹1.5 lakh was made for processing his pending khatha transfer work. Acting on instructions from the PDO, the complainant was directed to hand over the bribe amount to Gangadhar.
During the trap operation, the accused accepted ₹1.2 lakh from the complainant, following which both were apprehended. The entire bribe amount has been recovered by the officials.
The operation was led by Police Inspector Uma Mahesh of Bengaluru Rural District. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
