Night curfew relaxed by an hour, now from 10 pm to 5 am; colleges to reopen from July 26
BENGALURU:
With Covid-19 positive cases now well under under control in Karnataka, the state government has decided to reopen cinema halls — both multiplexes and single screens — with 50% capacity from Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday.
Speaking to TheBengaluruLive, Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar said, “It was decided to allow the opening of movie theatres with 50% capacity, along with multiplexes.”

During the meeting, it was also decided to relaxed the night curfew by an hour — the new timings will be from 10 pm to 5 am.
The Chief Secretary subsequently issued detailed guidelines which will come into effect from Monday and will be in force till August 2.

What the guidelines are:
1. Night curfew will continue to be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am in the state as per the existing guidelines.
2. Cinema halls/multiplexes/theatres/ranga mandiras/auditoriums and similar places are permitted to operate with 50% of seating capacity while strictly adhering to Covid- appropriate behaviour and SOPs issued by the concerned departments
3. Colleges and institutions pertaining to the Department of Higher Education are permitted to reopen from 26/7/2021 while strictly adhering to Covid-appropriate behaviour and SOPs/guidelines issued by the concerned department. Only students, teaching and non-teaching/other staff who have taken at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine will be permitted to attend colleges/institutions. Attendance of students will be optional.
4. All skill development training, including long-term technical courses, are permitted while strictly adhering to Covid-appropriate behaviour. Only students, teaching and non-teaching/other staff who have taken at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine will be permitted to attend the institutions
