BENGALURU:

Though Karnataka has seen more recoveries than fresh infections in the last couple of days, there is no room for complacency as daily infections continue to be north of 5,000. Tuesday followed a similar pattern with 6,257 fresh cases statewide and 6,473 discharges.

The number of deaths is still worrisome as 86 patients succumbed on Tuesday, according to the Health Department bulletin.

The total infected tally is now 1,88,611, of which 79,606 cases are active and being treated at various hospitals. Of the 699 ICU patients, Bengaluru Urban has the highest number of 329, while Vijayapura has just one ICU case.

Bengaluru Urban reported 1,610 fresh cases and 17 deaths, but also 1,508 recoveries.

Ballari, Belagavi, Dharwad, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Udupi, Raichur, Shivamogga continue to have alarming figures. Mysuru  reported 11 deaths followed by 9 each in Dharwad and Dakshina Kannada districts.
