BENGALURU: The first phase of voting has commenced in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, with polling stations open from 7 am to 6 pm. As of 11 am, 22.34% of eligible voters have cast their through EVMs.

In specific constituencies such as Bangalore North (19.78%), Bangalore South (19.81%), Bangalore Central (19.21%), Bangalore Rural (20.35%), Mysore-Kodagu (25.09%), Chamarajanagar (22.81%), Mandya (21.24%), Tumkur (22.32%), Kolar (20.76%), Hassan (22.03%), Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Chikkaballapur (29.03%), Dakshina Kannada (30.98%), and Chitradurga (21.75%), voter turnout has been notable.

Despite the scorching summer sun, voters have shown great enthusiasm, standing in long queues at polling booths across Bengaluru. The recent heatwave has been a challenge for the residents of the garden city, but it did not deter them from exercising their democratic rights early in the morning.

Women, young voters, and senior citizens have turned out in large numbers to cast their votes peacefully and without incident. Their dedication to participating in the electoral process is commendable and reflects the spirit of democracy in the state.
