Thursday tally: 204 new cases, 3 deaths

BENGALURU:

The state saw 204 new Covid-19 infections and 3 deaths on Thursday, taking the related tallies to 6,245 and 72.

As per the health department bulletin, 114 were discharged on Thursday. Of the day’s new cases, 157 have returned from other states, most of them from Maharashtra.

The cumulative 6,245 cases include 72 deaths and 2,976 discharges. Of 3,195 active cases, 3,185 are in designated hospitals and 10 are in ICUs.

Of the day’s deaths, a 35-year-old man from Bengaluru Urban with ILI and chronic liver disease was admitted on June 7 and died on June 10. A 60-year-old man from Bengaluru Urban with ILI, diabetes mellitus and ischemic heart disease was admitted on June 9 and died on June 11. A 28-year-old woman from Raichur with SARI and a history of travel to Bidar was admitted on May 30  and died on June 8.

Among districts on Thursday, Yadgiri accounts for 66 cases, Udupi 22, Bengaluru Urban 17, Kalaburagi 16, Raichur 15, Bidar 14, Shivamogga 10, Davanagere 9, Kolar 6, Mysuru and Ramanagara 5 each, Vijayapura 4, Bagalkote and Uttara Kannada 3 each, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad and Hassan 2 each, and Bengaluru Rural, Chikkamagalur and Koppal 1 each.

Udupi is the infection leader with a total of 969 infections, followed by Kalaburagi with 796 and Yadgir with 735. Udupi again tops with 349 discharges, followed by Bengaluru Urban with 299 and Kalaburagi with  285.
A total of 4,16,506 samples have been tested so far, of which 8,000 were tested on Thursday. So far, 4,02,105 samples have come negative, 7,502 of them on Thursday.
