They cashed in by fraudulently claiming 15-20 trips in a day

BENGALURU:

Four cab drivers accused of cheating Ola of lakhs were arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Thursday.

The accused are Nagesh (36) of Bharat Nagar, Ravi (21) of Hosakerehalli, Manu (27) of Basapura and Satisha (32) of Kempegowda Nagar.

They allegedly cheated the company by fraudulently claiming consumer bookings and 15 to 20 non-existent trips a day.

Two Innova cars worth Rs 23 lakh, one Swift car, 500 SIM cards, two ID printers and 16 mobile phones were seized from the accused.

The accused had applied online with Ola by creating fake documents and taking SIM cards in someone else’s name. It was later learned that they had 50 booking IDs in their possession.

If cabs make 15 to 20 trips a day, companies like Ola offer incentives.

This was the app used

The accused would book their own cabs as customers through different mobile phones. However, the car would not have travelled far.

The CCB investigation revealed that the accused would show fake map locations using Google’s GPS map app.
