Bengaluru/New Delhi: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has secured temporary relief in the Ketaganahalli land encroachment case after the Supreme Court declined to grant an urgent hearing, effectively accepting his legal argument.

The apex court refused to entertain the plea for an urgent hearing filed by Samaja Parivarthana Samudaya, stating that the matter would be taken up through the normal course of proceedings.

The petition had sought immediate intervention following survey proceedings related to the alleged land encroachment. However, Kumaraswamy’s counsel opposed the demand for urgency, arguing that there was no need for expedited hearing.

The Supreme Court, while agreeing with the objections raised by Kumaraswamy’s legal team, observed that the case does not warrant urgent consideration at this stage.

With this decision, the court has indirectly upheld Kumaraswamy’s stand, granting him interim relief as the case will now proceed under regular hearing timelines.

The development marks a significant legal breather for the Union Minister, even as the case continues to remain under judicial scrutiny.
