Karnataka State Nursing Council Registrar Arrested in Bengaluru Over Sexual Harassment Allegations
Bengaluru: The Registrar of the Karnataka State Nursing Council has been arrested following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by a female colleague, triggering a major development in a workplace harassment case in the city.
The arrest follows a formal complaint lodged at the Upparpet police station on March 26. The complainant, who is employed at the Council, accused the Registrar of subjecting her to repeated harassment at the workplace.
Acting on the complaint, Bengaluru police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the matter. According to West Division DCP Yathish N., the accused was taken into custody after he failed to respond to a legal notice issued by the investigating officers.
“We registered the FIR based on the victim’s detailed statement. A notice was served to the accused, but due to non-compliance, he was arrested. He has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody,” the DCP said.
Police officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to collect further evidence and record statements from witnesses.
The case has once again highlighted concerns around workplace safety and the need for strict enforcement of laws against harassment in professional environments.
