BENGALURU:

Despite their own financial hardships during the lockdown, with buses idling at  depots for nearly 2 months, employees of the transport department in the state have pooled together Rs 9.85 crore — one day’s salary — for the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who also holds the transport portfolio, handed over a cheque for  Rs 9.85 crore towards the  Chief Minister’s Covid Relief Fund to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
All the wings, KSRTC, BMTC, NEKRTC and NWKRTC, have contributed one day’s salary.

BMTC Chairman Nandeesh Reddy, Transport Department Principal Secretary Gaurav Gupta and KSRTC Managing Director Shivayogi C Kalasad were among those present on the occasion.
