CHIKKAMAGALUR:

For this district that has had no active Covid-19 cases for quite some time, a 15-year-old SSLC student in K Dasarahalli village of Hirenallur hobli in Kadur taluk, who tested positive, is a cause for concern, especially for other SSLC candidates.

The boy has been admitted to the district designated hospital. Around 55 of his primary contacts have been quarantined and K Dasarahalli village has been sealed.

The district’s first two cases on May 19 were a doctor in Mudigere and a pregnant woman in Tarikare. Sixteen cases have subsequently been reported, mostly of returnees from Delhi and Mumbai, and all have since been discharged.
