Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who oversees Bengaluru Development, said today that the final report on forming new corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be placed before the Cabinet after securing buy‑in from Opposition leaders.
Addressing the media after reviewing the GBA report at Vidhana Soudha, he stated, “The committee has finalised its recommendations for creating corporations within the current BBMP limits, with future expansions to follow. I’ve instructed the committee chair to brief and win over Opposition parties on these proposals. Once consensus is built, we will table the report in the Cabinet and aim to hold elections at the earliest opportunity.”
On his discussion with Home Minister G. Parameshwara regarding the Yettinahole project, Shivakumar explained, “Local concerns arose over villages being submerged by the dam. We’re exploring alternatives—such as water storage in existing tanks—to move the project forward without displacing residents. We’ll take everyone into confidence and present our plans to the Cabinet.”
Ahead of his Delhi visit to meet the Union Jal Shakti Minister about forest land clearances in Hassan and Tumakuru districts, Shivakumar added, “I will also stop by our party office—our ‘temple’—to seek blessings before engaging with the High Command.”
