Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh Completes Self-Enumeration via Mobile for Census 2027
Bengaluru: Marking the launch of the digital census initiative, Karnataka Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh on Wednesday successfully completed her self-enumeration process using a mobile phone as part of Census 2027.
The Chief Secretary urged all citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration process between April 1 and April 15, 2026, through the official portal se.census.gov.in. She emphasized that the process is simple, secure, and designed to make participation convenient for the public.
Sharing her experience, Dr. Rajneesh stated that the entire process can be completed within 5 to 10 minutes using a mobile number and OTP verification. Upon successful submission, a unique Self-Enumeration ID is generated, which can later be shared with enumerators during field visits scheduled between April 16 and May 15, 2026. This helps in faster verification and allows corrections if required.
She also advised citizens who may not have access to mobile phones or computers to use nearby digital service centers or seek assistance from friends and family to complete the process and obtain their registration ID.
Highlighting the importance of the exercise, the Chief Secretary said that Census 2027, under the theme âOur Census, Our Development,â is a crucial national initiative that will shape future policies and development strategies. The data collected will play a key role in planning for sectors such as healthcare, education, housing, and infrastructure.
She appealed to the public to provide accurate information and ensure their participation, stating that it is not just a responsibility but a contribution towards Karnatakaâs and the nationâs development. The government is committed to ensuring that no individual is left out of the census process.
On the occasion, Census Director Ramachandran also briefed the Chief Secretary on the features and functioning of the self-enumeration system.
