Bengaluru Road Rage: Machete-Wielding Driver Attacks Cabbie, Public Smashes His Car in Retaliation
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident of road rage near the Majestic railway gate in central Bengaluru, a man wielding a machete attacked a cab driver following a minor collision. The aggression quickly escalated, but the public took matters into their own hands and vandalised the attacker’s car in retaliation.
The incident occurred around 1:40 PM when a cab, driven by Kumar and carrying a passenger from Vijayanagar, was lightly hit from behind by an Innova vehicle. A verbal altercation followed, during which the Innova driver stepped out, assaulted the cabbie, and allegedly threatened him by placing a machete on his neck.
The shocking display of violence enraged bystanders, who questioned the assailant. When he turned on them as well, the crowd retaliated by smashing the windshield and windows of the Innova using stones.
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation erupted over a trivial issue — a minor scratch on the car — which triggered the Innova driver’s violent response. Locals described the man as aggressive and verbally abusive, escalating the situation unnecessarily.
The cab driver, Kumar, has lodged a formal complaint at the Shrirampura police station. Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding Innova driver involved in the machete threat.
Further investigation is underway.
