KSRTC innovates with scrapped bus

BENGALURU:

The state transport corporation has innovated by converting an old bus into a mobile sanitizer against the deadly coronavirus. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has turned a 10-year-old bus into a ‘disinfection tunnel’ and has named it ‘Sarige Sanjeevini’.

Essential staff who are out on the road during the lockdown can walk through the sanitizer bus and nozzles will spray disinfectant mist on them.

KSRTC MD Shivayogi C Kalasad, while launching ‘Sarige Sanjeevini’, said, “As there are no bus operations, this bus sanitizer will be running around Bangalore city to sanitize essential workers like medical and paramedical staff, the police and poura karmikas. It has been fabricated from a scrapped bus in-house for just Rs 20,000. It is a small initiative to fight the deadly Covid-19.”

The bus was launched on Saturday at Bengaluru’s Depot 2. The corporation claims that many other scrapped buses at different places across Karnataka will be converted into sanitizer buses.
