Riots: Former Congress Mayor, corporator grilled

Date:

BENGALURU:

In a surprising turn of events, the CCB, looking into last week’s riots, grilled former Congress Mayor R Sampath Raj and Abdul Zakir for a couple of hours on Tuesday.

Both the elected representatives were questioned at the CCB’s office in Chamarajpet.

Ex-Mayor’s aide held

The duo were questioned after Sampath Raj’s close aide Arun was arrested on Monday night. The cops are looking at possible political rivalry behind the attack on MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s house in Kaval Byrasandra.

Sampath Raj was reportedly using his aide Arun’s mobile phone, and the cops have seized the phone to search for riot-related evidence.

Meanwhile, 30 persons were arrested by the DJ Halli and CCB police on Monday night, bringing the total arrests to 380.
