Hosadurga: Of about 770 applications received from the public at Praja Seva Andolana meetings held so far in Chitradurga district, 759 have been disposed of, Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister and district in-charge Minister T. Raghumurthy said on Saturday. He directed officials to ensure that people’s problems are actually solved, and that all work other than cases with legal hurdles is completed within a time limit.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Praja Seva Andolana meeting organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Hosadurga taluk administration at Ashoka Rangamandira in Hosadurga town.
The minister said the meetings have so far been held in the district’s six taluks under the leadership of MLAs and officials. At the district-level meetings, 287 applications were received in Hiriyur, of which 282 were disposed of, and 66 in Holalkere, of which 64 were disposed of. The disposal of these applications will be discussed in detail at the district and taluk-level KDP meetings, he said.
Raghumurthy said the five guarantee schemes – Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, Anna Bhagya, Shakti and Yuva Nidhi – promised before the elections had been implemented by the government led by Siddaramaiah, and after the transfer of power, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had designed the Praja Seva Andolana as a special programme that he handles himself. Earlier Janaspandana meetings were held as a formality, but the new programme is being taken very seriously and will be monitored from the taluk to the State level, with officials strictly warned against negligence, he said.
He said that besides free bus travel for women under Shakti, a large programme had been taken up to provide free bus passes to all students; Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas were being set up in rural and urban areas with Rs 10 lakh for each; and programmes such as Negilayogi and Tegada Siri were being implemented for farmers.
More than 3 lakh farmers in the district have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and insurance will be available even to those who could not sow, for which about Rs 207 crore has been released separately, he said. Water has been released from the Bhadra reservoir under the Upper Bhadra project, and arrangements will be made to get 29.9 TMC of water every year. He warned against causing any damage to the scheme by drawing water through motors or canals.
Hosadurga MLA B.G. Govindappa, who presided, said the public can submit applications for khata transfers, house sites, title deeds, pensions and other administrative matters, with officials of all departments present on the spot to receive them and provide quick solutions.
The minister inaugurated exhibition stalls of various departments, including agriculture, horticulture, health, forest, animal husbandry, social welfare, women and child development and the town panchayat. Title deeds were distributed to people who have already built houses in Hosadurga and other towns, and fixed deposit bonds were handed over to inter-caste married couples sanctioned incentives by the Social Welfare Department.
Deputy Commissioner S. Ramya, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. S. Akash, Additional Deputy Commissioner B.T. Kumaraswamy and other district and taluk-level officials were present.
