BENGALURU: Commuters heading towards Majestic and K.R. Market will need to check their route as Bengaluru Traffic Police introduce diversions around Race Course Road and Maurya Junction from October 5, 2026. Movement towards Maurya Junction from Shivananda Junction and Trilight Junction will be prohibited under the advisory.

The restrictions are linked to Greater Bengaluru Authority white-topping work on the stretch from Maurya Junction to Hare Krishna Road Junction, alongside storm-water-drain, sewage-line and utility works. The written advisory says the arrangements will remain in force for 60 days from October 5.

Bengaluru Traffic Police (@blrcitytraffic), October 4, 2026

Which movements are restricted?

The advisory prohibits all vehicles travelling from Shivananda Junction towards Maurya Junction. It also prohibits all vehicles travelling from Trilight Junction on Race Course Road towards Maurya Junction. These are directional restrictions, rather than an announcement that every surrounding road is closed.

Towards K.R. Market: use LRDE and Basaveshwara Junction

BMTC buses, private buses and heavy goods vehicles travelling towards K.R. Market on Sankey Road should proceed straight from Windsor Manor towards L.R.D.E. Junction, turn right at L.R.D.E. Junction and continue via Basaveshwara Junction, police said.

Towards Majestic: two prescribed alternatives

All vehicles on Sankey Road travelling towards Majestic, including BMTC buses, private buses and heavy goods vehicles, should use Kumara Krupa Road to Shivananda Circle, turn right and then turn left onto S.C. Road to continue towards Majestic.

Vehicles travelling from Trilight Junction towards Maurya Junction may instead proceed straight over the Shivananda Flyover, reach S.C. Road via Nehru Circle and continue towards Majestic.

Old JDS Junction to Shivananda: Raceview diversion

Vehicles travelling from Old J.D.S. Junction towards Trilight Junction may take the road on the left side at Old J.D.S. Junction, turn left at Raceview Junction and continue via Kumara Krupa Road towards Shivananda Junction.

Check the dates before planning your journey

The written English and Kannada notices specify a 60-day period beginning October 5. The accompanying route maps display October 5–20, 2026, a shorter date range. The shared post does not explain the difference. This report follows the duration stated in the written advisory; commuters should watch for subsequent police updates and follow directions at the junctions.

Police have requested public cooperation.
