Tirupati-Style Temple Closer to Home: Shivakumar Says Karnataka Approved 10 Acres
Bengaluru: Devotees unable to make the journey to Tirupati could have another place to worship Lord Venkateswara in Karnataka, with D.K. Shivakumar saying that 10 acres of land had been approved for a temple proposed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Speaking at the Kail Muhurtha Jambara 2026 programme at the Kodagu Gowda Samaja hall in Ullal, Bengaluru, on Sunday, Shivakumar said TTD representatives had approached the government seeking land for a temple modelled on the Tirupati shrine.
He said the approval for 10 acres had been granted at a Cabinet meeting held in Mangaluru. The proposed temple, he said, would enable devotees who cannot travel to Tirupati to offer prayers closer to home.
Referring to pilgrimage centres including Subrahmanya, Kollur, Kateel and Dharmasthala, Shivakumar said the TTD temple would provide devotees with another place of worship in Karnataka.
