Doha, Qatar/Bengaluru: Renowned playback singer and celebrated “Melody King” Rajesh Krishnan was conferred the prestigious ‘Swara Yogi’ Award at the grand cultural festival Sambhrama 2026, organised by Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) on behalf of the Kannada community in Qatar.
The event was held at the DPS MIS Auditorium in Al Wakrah and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Non-Resident Kannadigas across Qatar. The honour was presented in recognition of Rajesh Krishnan’s outstanding contribution to Kannada music and his decades-long journey as one of the most beloved voices in the industry.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Indian Ambassador to Qatar Vipul, Deputy Chief of Mission Sandeep Kumar, and First Secretary Harish Pandey from the Embassy of India.
Also present on the occasion were A.P. Manikandan, President of the Indian Cultural Centre Qatar, Fatima Al Madeed, Deputy Director of Administration at the Qatar Auto Museum, and senior petroleum engineer Khalid Al Fakroo, who joined in honouring the veteran singer.
Office-bearers, advisors and members of the Karnataka Sangha Qatar executive committee were present on stage, adding to the significance of the occasion. Organisers said the success of Sambhrama 2026 reflected the dedication, coordination and collective efforts of the Karnataka Sangha Qatar team.
The citation read during the felicitation praised Rajesh Krishnan for his immense contribution to Kannada music.
“Through the sweetness of your voice, emotionally rich renditions and unwavering dedication to music, you have made an extraordinary contribution to the world of Kannada music. Your songs are deeply woven into the memories and emotions of millions of music lovers. Karnataka Sangha Qatar takes immense pride in conferring upon you the title of ‘Swara Yogi’ in recognition of your artistic excellence and musical journey,” the citation stated.

Rajesh Krishnan captivated the audience with a series of evergreen Kannada melodies, creating a nostalgic atmosphere for Kannadigas living far from their homeland.
His performance rekindled memories of Karnataka among expatriates, while the audience responded with thunderous applause and enthusiastic cheers throughout the evening.
