Nearly 18 lakh persons covered by its largesse
BENGALURU:
Corporate Social Responsibility — a mere formality to some — is at the very core of the Bengaluru-based Prestige group. The Prestige Foundation has been unreservedly helping daily wage earners and the underprivileged during the difficult lockdown period, having served over 1.7 million meals so far.
For the Prestige Foundation, Bengaluru city comes first, and it has distributed essential rations and cooked food to around 15,41,756 underprivileged and needy people in the city till date.
The Foundation, headed by Managing Director Irfan Razack, has also distributed essential rations in Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Mysuru — for a total of 2,52,998 ration kits. Each kit contains 5 kg rice and 2 kg wheat.
The kit distribution will continue for another 3 days, with each day covering 69,879 needy persons, taking the number to 2,09,637 and a cumulative total of 17,51,393 needy persons.
The Prestige group has also distributed hygiene kits amongst many labour colonies and various localities, along with masks, fumigation, sanitization and thermal scanners.
Further, volunteers of the Prestige group have raised awareness among labourers on the importance of social distancing in preventing the spread of Covid-19.
