Piyush Goyal Slams Kharge’s “Terrorist” Remark on PM Modi, Calls It “Low-Level Politics”
Chennai: Union Minister Piyush Goyal has strongly criticised Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it “low-level” and reflective of the Congress leadership’s mindset.
Reacting to Kharge’s statement, Goyal said such comments expose the “inner thinking” of the Congress and the Gandhi family, alleging that the party revolves entirely around one family. Drawing a parallel with Tamil Nadu politics, he also accused the DMK of being centered around the Stalin family.
Defending Prime Minister Modi, Goyal said he is the “most popular leader in the world” and has been democratically elected by the people of India. He added that 140 crore Indians see Modi as a leader capable of taking the country towards a developed future.
Goyal further accused the Congress of being unable to accept repeated electoral defeats and criticised the Gandhi family for what he termed a history of scandals and anti-India narratives. He said such remarks against the Prime Minister were condemnable and disrespectful.
On the issue of delimitation and women’s reservation, Goyal countered opposition claims, stating that the Centre’s proposal aimed to protect South India’s share of parliamentary seats. He alleged that Congress, DMK, and other opposition parties were misleading people and opposing reforms that would benefit southern states.
He also dismissed allegations regarding control over institutions, asserting that bodies like the Delimitation Commission function independently and are not influenced by the government.
Commenting on Tamil Nadu politics, Goyal expressed confidence that the NDA would perform strongly in the state and described the upcoming election as a contest between “corruption and development.”
The remarks have further escalated the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress following Kharge’s statement, with both sides intensifying their attacks ahead of elections.
