Bengaluru, July 13: Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil continued the State Government’s investment outreach by conducting an investment roadshow in Kolkata, where he held discussions with representatives of eight leading companies from sectors including manufacturing, renewable energy, mining, agro-processing, apparel and wood products.

Leading a high-level Karnataka Government delegation, Patil invited the companies to expand their manufacturing and investment footprint in Karnataka, highlighting the State’s investor-friendly policies, robust industrial ecosystem and infrastructure. The Karnataka Government delegation included Selvakumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Industries Commissioner Khushboo Goel, and other senior officials.

Focus on ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ Initiative

During the meetings, the Minister said the Karnataka Government is promoting balanced industrial growth through its “Beyond Bengaluru” initiative and encouraged companies to consider emerging industrial destinations such as Vijayapura, Tumakuru, Belagavi and Hubballi.

He said these regions offer significant opportunities in sectors such as electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and agro-processing.

Patil also invited company representatives to visit Karnataka to evaluate industrial land, water availability and power infrastructure, assuring them of the State Government’s full support in facilitating new investments.

Meetings with Eight Leading Companies

The Minister met senior executives from:

  • Greenply Industries – a leading manufacturer of plywood and wood panel products.
  • Tega Industries – a global provider of mining and mineral processing solutions.
  • Regaal Resources Limited – a major agro-processing company.
  • Graphite India Limited – one of India’s leading graphite electrode manufacturers.
  • Vikram Solar – a leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.
  • Rupa & Company Limited – a prominent knitwear and apparel manufacturer.

The discussions focused on expanding existing operations, establishing new manufacturing facilities and exploring long-term investment opportunities in Karnataka.

Agro-Processing and Manufacturing Expansion

Patil encouraged Regaal Resources, which currently manufactures maize-based products, to diversify its operations in Karnataka by venturing into the processing of additional agricultural commodities, including toor dal and other farm produce.

He also revealed that Rupa & Company Limited has expressed interest in establishing another manufacturing unit in Karnataka.

The Minister said further discussions would continue to facilitate these proposed investment projects.

Positive Response from Industry

According to the Industries Department, the meetings received a positive response from the participating companies, with several expressing interest in exploring investment opportunities across Karnataka.

The State Government said it remains committed to creating a favourable business environment and strengthening Karnataka’s position as one of India’s leading investment destinations.

Among those who participated in the meetings were Sanjiv Keshri, Chief Financial Officer, and Jinendra Kumar Jain, Vice President, Greenply Industries; Pratik Basu Roy, Global President, Tega Industries; Rohan Kishorepuria, Chief Financial Officer, and Siddharth Verma, Chief of Staff, Regaal Resources Limited; Ashutosh Dixit, Executive Director, and Siddhant Bangur, Vice President, Graphite India Limited; Vivek Chaudhary, Vice President & Chief of Staff, and Arun Mittal, Chief Executive Officer, VSL PowerHive Pvt. Ltd. (Vikram Solar); and Sumit Khowala, Chief Financial Officer, along with Praveen, Manager (Finance), Rupa & Company Limited.
