Kharge Calls PM Modi “Terrorist” at Chennai Press Meet, Triggers Major Political Row
Chennai: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has triggered a major political controversy after referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “terrorist” during a press conference in Chennai.
While addressing the media, Kharge questioned political parties aligning with the BJP, stating that such alliances weaken democracy and go against the principles of equality and justice. In his remarks, he alleged that the BJP does not believe in equality and accused those joining hands with the party of undermining democratic values.
Kharge also invoked the ideologies of social reformers such as Periyar, Kalaignar, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, claiming that such political alignments dilute their philosophies. He reiterated that the Congress-DMK alliance remains committed to welfare, inclusive growth, quality education, and accessible healthcare.
The remarks have sparked sharp reactions from political opponents, with the BJP expected to strongly condemn the statement and demand an explanation from the Congress leadership.
The controversy is likely to intensify political tensions ahead of upcoming elections, with both sides preparing for a war of words over the issue.
