Passenger Fined for Spitting at Bengaluru Metro Station

Date:

BENGALURU: In an effort to maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the Bengaluru Metro, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has implemented strict measures to deter spitting and littering by imposing fines. Despite these efforts, incidents of misconduct continue to occur. Most recently, a passenger was fined for spitting at the Doddakalasandra Metro station on Kanakapura Road.

This incident follows previous cases of passengers engaging in inappropriate behavior within the metro premises. For instance, a young woman was fined Rs 500 for eating food while seated in the metro, and a video of a passenger consuming Vimal Pan Masala also garnered attention. Despite public admonishment, some individuals persist in disregarding the rules and regulations of the metro system.

The BMRCL reported that the passenger in question was caught spitting pan masala near the lift of Platform 01 at the Doddakalasandra Metro Station on the Green Line Kanakapura Road at approximately 6:30 PM on May 2, 2025. The individual was promptly fined by metro authorities.

Spitting and littering not only contribute to environmental pollution but also pose health risks to fellow passengers. The BMRCL remains dedicated to providing a clean, hygienic, and safe public transport system for all commuters.

Stringent measures will be taken against those who violate cleanliness standards, and the BMRCL urges all passengers to cooperate and report any incidents of misconduct to metro authorities promptly.
