BENGALURU:

While his political boss, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, has already clarified that there will be no extension of the week-long lockdown in Bengaluru which ends on July 22, new BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad has for good measure reaffirmed the government’s stand.

“The Chief Minister has made it clear that the lockdown will not be extended for any reason. After Tuesday, there will not be any lockdown. We will follow the government’s orders. There is no question of (another) lockdown,” the civic chief told reporters on Sunday.

The CM had on Friday said a lockdown was no solution for controlling the pandemic, but also cryptically added that “there is no proposal before the government to extend it.”
