BENGALURU:

Immediately after assuming charge as BBMP chief, N Manjunatha Prasad has got cracking by warning a private hospital that its CEO would be arrested if it did not comply with government guidelines on reserving beds for Covid patients.

It was decided earlier that 50 per cent of the beds in private hospitals would be reserved for Covid patients.

On Sunday, Prasad visited Sakra Hospital near Marathahalli and reportedly questioned the management, “Why don’t you give (Covid) beds when we are paying money?” He instructed officials to close the OPD of the hospital. The hospital has a total of 300 beds.

The BBMP chief gave the hospital management a deadline of evening to provide information on beds reserved for Covid cases.
