New Bengaluru Central City Commissioner G. Jagadeesh Takes Charge, Sets Tough Targets on Waste Management and Civic Services

Bengaluru, June 6: IAS officer G. Jagadeesh on Saturday assumed charge as the Commissioner of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation at the Commissioner’s Office in the PUB Building on M.G. Road and immediately set an ambitious agenda focused on waste management, citizen services and civic governance.
Soon after taking charge, Jagadeesh held an introductory meeting with senior officials and reviewed the progress of various departments, ongoing development projects, quality of public services and future action plans.

The newly appointed Commissioner stressed the need for stronger inter-departmental coordination and directed officials to function responsibly within the legal framework to ensure efficient and timely service delivery to citizens.
Focus on Cleanliness, Citizen Services and Public Spaces
During the review meeting, Jagadeesh instructed officials to transform parks into more walker-friendly spaces catering to children, senior citizens, women and fitness enthusiasts.
Emphasising Bengaluru’s cleanliness goals, he directed officials to ensure 100 per cent daily door-to-door waste collection and take permanent measures to eliminate waste-related black spots across the corporation limits.
He also instructed authorities to enforce mandatory attendance of sanitation workers to strengthen waste management operations.
Tough Stand on Rent Defaulters
In a significant revenue-related directive, the Commissioner ordered officials to initiate action against tenants occupying corporation-owned shops, markets and properties without paying rent.
He directed officials to evict chronic defaulters and seal such premises in accordance with the law.
Push for Electoral Roll Revision
Jagadeesh also reviewed preparations related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls and instructed officials to achieve 100 per cent targets under the exercise.
He directed departments to organise the required training programmes and ensure smooth implementation of the electoral revision process.
Citizens Must Receive Respectful Service
Highlighting the role of government officials as public servants, the Commissioner instructed all officers to treat citizens courteously and ensure prompt resolution of grievances.
He emphasised that improving citizen satisfaction should remain a key priority for every department.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Venkatachalapathi, Additional Commissioner (Revenue) K. Ranganath, Joint Commissioner Hemanth Sharan, Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Health Officer Shivakumar, Deputy Controller of Finance Vijayalakshmi and senior officials from various departments, including town planning, horticulture, forest, education, animal husbandry and revenue.
