New Delhi, June 7: Household budgets are set to come under further pressure as domestic LPG cylinder prices have been increased once again, with oil marketing companies announcing a ₹29 hike in the price of 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinders.

With the latest revision, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from ₹913 to ₹942. The revised rates in other major cities include ₹945.50 in Jaipur, ₹950.50 in Lucknow, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, ₹957 in Chennai and ₹944.50 in Bengaluru.

LPG Becomes ₹89 Costlier in Three Months

The latest increase marks the second hike in the past three months. Earlier, on March 7, LPG cylinder prices were increased by ₹60.

As a result, domestic consumers are now paying ₹89 more per cylinder compared to what they were paying just three months ago, triggering concerns over rising household expenses and inflation.

Global Energy Costs Behind Increase

According to oil companies, the latest hike has been driven by rising international energy prices and losses incurred on domestic LPG sales.

Industry experts point out that fluctuations in global crude oil and energy markets continue to influence fuel and cooking gas prices in India.

The increase comes at a time when several countries are grappling with energy market uncertainties, pushing up costs across the fuel sector.

Consumers Voice Concern Over Rising Costs

The price hike has drawn concern from consumers, many of whom say the repeated increases are putting additional strain on family budgets.

Several consumers purchasing LPG cylinders expressed frustration over rising living costs, pointing to increasing inflation and employment-related challenges.

“Prices keep rising while incomes remain under pressure. The burden on ordinary households is increasing,” said one consumer while collecting a cylinder.

Relief Depends on Global Market Trends

Energy market experts believe that any reduction in domestic LPG prices will largely depend on a decline in international fuel and energy costs.

Until global energy markets stabilize, consumers may continue to face elevated cooking gas prices, adding to broader concerns over inflation and the rising cost of living across the country.
