MYSURU/BENGALURU:
Following an appeal by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, government doctors in Mysuru have called off their 2-day strike but will continue to wear black armbands to work. The development follows the suicide of Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer Dr Nagendra, allegedly due to harassment by higher-ups.
On Sunday, the doctors’ representative Dr Devi Anand told the media that nodal officers should be from the health department, not KAS or IAS officers.
Minister’s take
Meanwhile, Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar, taking a hard line on the issue, reportedly said (only) people who can take work pressure should be in the government
Earlier, the minister tweeted that the government was not trying to shield any official. “After the investigation, we will know the truth,” he said.
