Minister’s aide injured in attack
BENGALURU:
A close aide of Urban Development Minister Byrati Basavaraj was shot at by 2 assailants on Saturday night near KR Puram.
As per sources, around 9 pm, 2 masked men fired at Babu, alias Auto Babu, near Dargah Mohalla and also attacked him with deadly weapons, injuring him. One of the accused was caught by the public and handed over to the police.
It is believed that rivalry was behind the attack on Babu, a realtor. Joint Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil and Whitefield division DCP Devaraju visited the spot. Babu is being treated at a private hospital.
“Two young men attacked Babu while he was in his real estate office. One opened fire and another assaulted him with a lethal weapon. Babu escaped the gunshot,” said an officer.
Sources said one Suhail’s friend Mirza used to keep a snack shop open late into the night. Babu and others had warned him not to do so. This could have been the reason for the attack on Babu.
