Modular ICU at KC General to start soon: DCM
50-bed portable unit for Covid cases has been fashioned from cargo container

A first-of-its-kind modular ICU for Covid patients at KC General Hospital in Malleswaram will be operational in 10 days, Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan said on Wednesday after a visit to the hospital.
The 50-bed ICU has been fashioned from a repurposed cargo container by a city-based company and has been funded by 11 donors.
The ICU measures 12.135×3.3×2.62 metres and can be easily transported and set up at different places. It is easy to maintain, adaptable to any sort of climate, and has oxygen supply and air-conditioning facilities. It also has a CCTV for remote treatment, along with water supply and sewage treatment facilities.
‘No shortage of beds’
In reply to a query, the DCM said there was no shortage of beds in any of the government hospitals in the city.
