MLC K Govindaraj Seeks Statue of Former Karnataka CM SM Krishna at Vikas Soudha
Bengaluru: Legislative Council member Dr K Govindaraj on Friday submitted a request to Chief Minister D K Shivakumar seeking the installation of a statue in memory of veteran politician, former Karnataka Chief Minister and late S M Krishna at the Vikas Soudha premises.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Govindaraj said Krishna played a key role in shaping Bengaluru as a Silicon City. He said installing a statue at Vikas Soudha or another suitable location chosen by the government would serve as a lasting tribute to the former Chief Minister and commemorate his contributions.

Govindaraj said Krishna made significant contributions to Karnataka’s overall development during his tenure as Chief Minister. By encouraging the growth of the information technology sector, Krishna made a memorable contribution to Bengaluru’s emergence as a Silicon City, the letter said.
The letter said Krishna’s emphasis on technology, education, industry and urban development gave a new direction to Karnataka’s development.
Govindaraj also recalled Krishna’s roles in state and national politics, noting that he served as a Rajya Sabha member, Union External Affairs Minister and Governor of Maharashtra.
He urged the state government to consider the request and take the necessary steps to install a statue in memory of S M Krishna.
