KPSC Plans UPSC-Style Recruitment Overhaul, Targets Results Within 3–5 Months and OMR Access for Candidates
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has initiated steps to overhaul its recruitment system on the lines of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), with a focus on greater transparency, technology-driven processes and faster completion of recruitment, the Commission said in a release.
The proposed framework aims to complete the selection process and announce final results within three to five months, while examination results are proposed to be published within a week of the completion of an examination.
The changes were discussed at a KPSC meeting, where H. Prasanna, Executive Director of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), was welcomed after taking charge as the new Controller of Examinations.
Prasanna explained that the proposed system would use technology more effectively to increase transparency and expedite recruitment. Under one of the key measures discussed, OMR answer sheets would be scanned immediately after recruitment examinations using scanning machines available in the respective districts and uploaded to the Commission’s official website.
The move is intended to give candidates direct access to their own OMR answer sheets for verification. Measures will also be taken to publish examination results within one week after an examination concludes, according to the release.
Commission members offered suggestions on the proposed changes and assured cooperation in conducting recruitment exercises transparently and within fixed timelines.
KPSC also cautioned job aspirants against inducements, rumours and promises made by middlemen or unauthorised persons. It urged candidates to rely only on official information, prepare diligently for examinations and make use of government employment opportunities without falling prey to intermediaries.
The Commission said the meeting unanimously decided to work in line with the government’s vision by adopting UPSC-style transparency, modern technology and a fast-track recruitment framework aimed at selecting eligible candidates without unnecessary delay.
