BENGALURU:
The state government has invited applications for a mass wedding to be conducted by the muzrai department. The ‘Saptapady’ mass marriage programme was earlier postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Religious Endowment issued an order on Saturday saying that the mass marriage programme will be held on July 23, 26, 29 and August 6, 10, 14 and 17.
Under the programme, brides will be given an 8-gram gold mangalsutra and couples will get Rs 55,000 for the purchase of essentials. Besides, the groom will be given a dhoti, shirt and towel, while the bride will get a sari and two gold pendants.
