Bengaluru, June 7: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar held a warm and cordial telephonic conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during which the two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation across key sectors including trade, investment, technology, education and cultural exchange.

According to a statement shared by the Chief Minister on social media platform X, the Malaysian Prime Minister conveyed his greetings and extended an invitation to Shivakumar to visit Malaysia to further deepen engagement between Malaysia and Karnataka.

The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for the invitation and expressed his willingness to visit Malaysia at a mutually convenient time.

Karnataka Extends Invitation to Malaysian PM

During the conversation, Shivakumar also invited the Malaysian Prime Minister to visit Karnataka and experience the state’s strengths in innovation, industry, technology, education and culture.

The Chief Minister highlighted Karnataka’s growing global profile as a hub for technology, research, innovation and higher education, making it an attractive destination for international partnerships and investments.

Focus on Trade, Investment and Talent Exchange

Both sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, technology, education, talent mobility and cultural engagement.

The Chief Minister said Karnataka looks forward to building stronger partnerships with Malaysia that can create new opportunities for businesses, students, professionals and institutions in both regions.

Strong People-to-People Connect

Shivakumar noted that thousands of Malaysian students are currently pursuing higher education in Karnataka, creating a strong people-to-people relationship between the two regions.

He said these educational and cultural ties provide a solid foundation for expanding collaboration and fostering shared growth and prosperity in the years ahead.

The conversation comes as Karnataka continues to strengthen its international outreach and position itself as a preferred destination for global investment, innovation and academic collaboration.
