Major IPS Reshuffle: Dr. Pronab Mohanty Appointed DGP of CID, Special Units and Economic Offences
Bengaluru, June 7: In a significant reshuffle in the Karnataka Police hierarchy, senior IPS officer Dr. Pronab Mohanty (1994 batch) has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Units and Economic Offences, Bengaluru.
According to a notification issued by the Karnataka Government, Mohanty has been transferred from his earlier position as DGP, Internal Security Division, and posted to head the state’s premier investigation agency with immediate effect.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Mohanty has also been entrusted with the concurrent charge of Director General of Police (Cyber Crimes), CID, until further orders.
The appointment places him at the helm of some of Karnataka’s most critical investigation wings, including economic offences, special units and cyber crime investigations, at a time when cyber fraud and financial crimes continue to pose major challenges for law enforcement agencies.
