Lockdown looms over Covid-hit districts like Mysuru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi and Ballari

CM to base decision on Monday talks with district heads

BENGALURU:

It’s not just Bengaluru Urban and Rural where a week-long lockdown will be imposed from Tuesday evening, another 12 districts too are on the ‘lockdown list’.

They include Kalaburagi, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Udupi, Belagavi, Bidar, Ballari, Dharwad, Raichur, Gadag and Davanagere. These districts have each reported at least 300 Covid cases.

A final decision will be taken after Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa holds discussions with the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police concerned via video conferencing on Monday morning at 11 am.

The Chief Minister will also hold another video conference the same day at 4 pm with officials of other districts on the Covid situation.

Speaking to the media, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said that currently 12 districts are facing a serious threat from the coronavirus and a lockdown is being considered in these districts.
