‘Let flu-hit staff work from home’

In an advisory, the state health department has urged techies to work from home. Additional Chief Secretary Jawaid Akhtar has urged IT/BT companies to allow employees and staff who have flu-like symptoms to work from home.

The detailed advisory reads:

1. Avoid non-essential travel to Covid-19 affected countries and refrain from travel to China, lran, Republic of Korea, ltaly and Japan.

2. Employees other than from those restricted countries arriving directly or indirectly from China, South Korea, Japan, lran, ltaly, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Malaysia, lndonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, UAE and Qatar must undergo medical screening at airport entry.

3. Employees arriving through all international flights entering lndia from any port are required to furnish a duly filled self-declaration form (including personal particulars — phone numbers and address in lndia and travel history) to health officials and immigration officials.

4. Those employees having flu-like symptoms may be allowed to work from home with advice on hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

5. Promote regular and thorough hand washing at the workplace.

6. Put sanitizing hand rub dispensers (alcohol-based) in prominent places and provide access to places where staff can wash their hands with soap and water.

7. Surfaces (eg. desks and tables) and objects (eg. telephones and keyboards) should be wiped with disinfectants regularly

8. Promote good respiratory hygiene. Ensure that surgical masks and/or paper tissues are available at your workplaces only for those who develop a runny nose or cough at work, along with closed bins for hygienic disposal.

9. Any passenger who has visited the affected countries in the last 14 days and has come to Karnataka — he/she has to self-intimate to the Health Department. lf he/she has to travel again from Bengaluru to other places, he/she has to take permission from the Health Department or he/she has to intimate the concerned officials of the Health Department.
